Skale-X™ Descaling Kit provides a convenient solution to removing scale deposits from tankless water heaters.
This kit relies on the superior wetting and penetrating abilities of the nontoxic Skale-X™ biodegradable descaler coupled with the power of the submersible recirculating pump to effectively descale the heater, pipes and other components.
Skale-X™ ADVANTAGES:
Skale-X™ is safe to handle and non-corrosive when used as directed. Kit works fast, typically within an hour. Skale-X™ will not freeze or slush at temperatures above 0 °F and can be stored for up to 5 years. The Skale-X™ biodegradable descaler is environmentally friendly and harmless to common hydronic system components including CPVC. Skale-X™ can aslo be used in and around food processing areas and potable water systems.
DIRECTIONS:
Shut off the gas and power supply to the tankless water heater. Close both the cold water inlet and hot water outlet valves. Remove the drain cap on the hot water drain valve. Open the drain valve and drain the unit of any excess water that may be remaining in the 5-gallon bucket. Discardthe water. Repeat for the cold water side.
Connect one hose to the submersible pump and place the pump into the 5-gallon bucket making sure the pump’s power cord stays out of the bucket. Connect pump outlet hose to the cold water drain valve. Connect the second hose to the hot water drain valve and place the end of this hose into the bucket. This will serve as the tankless water heater drain hose during the cleaning.
Pour the contents of one 32 ounce Skale-X™ bottle into the bucket and add water until the pump is just submerged. The total volume in the bucket will be approximately 3-gallons. Open both drain valves. The pump will automatically turn on once the power cord is connected to the power source. Circulate the diluted Skale-X™ for at least 45 minutes. For heavily fouled tankless water heaters, circulate the cleaner for longer periods and/or change the Skale-X™ after the first hour and continue the circulation as above. Once this procedure is uccessfully completed, turn off the pump and close the cold water drain valve. Remove the hose from the cold water drain valve and replace the drain cap.
Take the pump and the drain hose out of the bucket and drain the bucket. Return the drain hose back into the bucket, open the cold water main valve and flush the heater for at least 5 minutes.
For Condensing Units; open the drain cock located directly under the heater to drain out any descaling solution that may collect in the unit. Turn off the main inlet valve. Close the drain valve, remove the drain hose and replace the drain cap. Turn on the main hot and cold valves and turn the gas supply back on and turn the power supply back on. Restart the system. If error occurs, see heater’s owners manual.
Rinse the pump and the hoses with fresh water once the cleaning is completed. Fill water in the five gallon bucket and recirculate several times. Change water as needed.
CAUTION:
Do not run the pump if there is not enough fluid in the bucket to avoid damaging it.
NOTE:
Skale-X™ contains NO ingredients listed in 21 CFR 189 that would prohibit its use as a cleaning agent for potable water systems. Skale-X™ is NSF registered as an A3 cleaner, which is not intended for direct food contact. When cleaning food contact surfaces, all food products and packaging should be removed or carefully protected prior to using Skale-X™. A potable water rinse of the cleaned surface is required.
SAFETY AND HANDLING:
Skale-X™ is non-flammable and biodegradable. Contact with skin is not typically harmful, but if sensitivity occurs, flush with soap and water. Skale-X™ does not produce harmful fumes and can usually be flushed to city sewers and septic system with plain water. Check local regulations if uncertain. Skale-X™ should only be used with water and should not be mixed with other chemicals. Empty containers can be rinsed and discarded without special requirements.
ATTENTION:
Variations of product color may be caused by, UV or sunlight exposure, or mixing with chlorinated water.
